Company Enhances Employee Wellness with Cinema-Grade Theater Featuring StormAudio
When designing the space, the owners of Plexxis Software knew that no ordinary AV system would suffice. The company wanted the performance and aesthetics of its new stadium-style entertainment arena to be on par with that of the best commercial cinemas.
“They envisioned a dedicated space on-site that would evoke all the drama and excitement of going to a real movie theater, but with the comfort and convenience of being right there, at their place of employment,” said Martin Engelbrecht of British Columbia-based systems integration firm, OneTouch House. “With regularly scheduled events and movie nights, Plexxis Software ensures that its staff can enjoy this unique amenity, making the workplace not just a place of productivity but also a hub of relaxation and entertainment.”
The integration team at OneTouch House was deeply committed to achieving the highest level of performance for the corporate cinema project. Understanding the unique challenge of creating an extraordinary, immersive theater experience within a workplace, they ventured beyond their usual selection of residential-focused AV products to push the boundaries of possibilities.
StormAudio proved to be central to OneTouch House’s exploration of next-level gear. Known for its high-performance and audiophile-grade capabilities, the StormAudio ISP Elite MK3 processor has the brains and brawn to deliver precise, crystal-clear audio and handle the complex soundscapes required by the 7.6.4. Dolby Atmos surround-sound configuration.
For OneTouch House, the StormAudio Elite MK3 processor checked off every box. But would it be able to process cinematic content from the Barco projector’s DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) interface? Would the signal maintain the high DCI performance standards normally reserved for professional cinema environments? And most importantly, would this setup unlock full access to first-run movies via the exclusive Bel Air Circuit movie service?
In fact, the dynamic StormAudio/Barco duo met every requirement. “We were pulling our hair out trying to find a solution capable of processing audio from the projector’s DCI-enabled engine, when thankfully, our distributor suggested StormAudio,” Engelbrecht remarked. “The Elite MK3 ended up being the perfect solution.”
Its support of DCI makes the theater all the more authentic and engaging by permitting the presentation on the same day it is released commercially. “Why would they go anywhere else to catch a new movie when they can do it at their place of work? We owe this amazing capability and compelling selling feature in large part to StormAudio,” Engelbrecht said.
Even though it would be OneTouch House’s first experience with StormAudio, they found the installation and configuration of the Elite MK3 simple and straightforward, thanks largely to their StormAudio rep. “He calibrated the room for us remotely and also handled the integration of the DCI audio engine to the StormAudio engine. It was a very technical and complex task that would have pulled us away from other aspects of the project,” he added. “With StormAudio’s assistance, we were able to stay on schedule and deliver a system that has created quite a buzz at the office.”
La StormAudio Elite MK3 processor, Barco projector and PerListen Audio speakers are joined by a 26-foot-wide projection screen, Kaleidescape media server, ATI amplifiers, madVR video processor, and DMX LED lighting. Plus, a suite of THX-certified speakers from PerListen Audio are recessed discreetly within the ceiling and wall surfaces, ensuring the theater looks as good as it sounds.
This impressive array of technology creates a state-of-the-art cinema experience that aligns perfectly with the Plexxis Software’s corporate philosophy on employee wellness. By motivating the team with amenities like a full-scale gym, nap rooms, a well-appointed gaming area, and the crown jewel, a StormAudio-enabled AV escape—the OneTouch House’s customer has reinforced its position as an employer that prioritizes the well-being and satisfaction of its workforce.
